Film: Alice in Wonderland
Starring: Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham- Carter
Director: Tim Burton
Rating: *** 1/2
Fans of Lewis Carroll’s The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland will be disappointed; Tim Burton’s Alice is hardly recognisable from the ones who have gone before. Sure, there is a cake that makes Alice taller, a drink that makes Alice smaller and most of the much-loved characters remain (although I did notice the absence of my favourites, the Mock Turtle and the Duchess with her pig baby.) on:My name is Jo Isaac, I’m a lower 6th student at Peter Symonds studying Spanish, photography, and psychology. I’m loving Symonds and all my subjects but I have no idea what I want to do afterwards. I’m interested in other cultures and went travelling for five months after year 11 which was fantastic and I really want to do it again. I’m interested in comedy, music (especially The Beatles) and films. I love live comedy, music and theatre. I enjoy writing and am looking forward to writing for this magazine, although I’m not sure how it will work out as I have never written for one before. I don’t have anything else to say… but I hope you can enjoy my writing.

Film: Nowhere Boy
Starring: Aaron Johnson, Anne-Marie Duff, Kristin Scott Thomas.
Director: Sam Taylor-Wood
Rating: *****
As a major Beatles and John Lennon fan I was excited but a little apprehensive about the new film ‘Nowhere Boy’. The film documents around two of Lennon’s teenage years, and anyone who knows his story will be aware that it is a sad and sensitive tale that must be treated with great care by a film maker.

Love Magazine is the British bi-annual magazine launched at the beginning of last year. Its first cover was controversial for a fashion magazine; it pictured the Gossip singer, Beth Ditto, naked.
